Here Are Seven Aspects Of Rss For You To Think About

Now before mentioning all the added benefits of RSS (well seven of them at this point)I should really touch on what RSS actually is. After all not absolutely everyone knows and you can’t really respect it and what it has to offer if you are not sure specifically what it is.

When you go onto a website or a blog occasionaly you will come across the little orange icon somewhere with the letters RSS embedded within it. You will find that these letters mean Really Simple Syndication or in come cases Rich Site Summary. What this means is that through this tool the updated content of a site or blog is being republished.

With an RSS on a site updates about the site that occur can be syndicated out to all those you subscribe to it. Because it is a simple process, the updates can be as easy as a one line description, paragraphs, you may even want to include pictures, or even a full length description you can actually use whatever method or piece of information you want to let people know that the site has been improved or updated.Let's expand for a minute, all an RSS does is lets people know that the site they are subscribing to has been updated in some way, that there is a new piece of information that you the subscriber may want to read.

What then are the benefits of an RSS? I have touched on some but here they are in more depth along with some others

RSS is beneficial to both sides – that being the reader and the publisher.

1. It gives you the latest updates.

It is irrelevant what subject the site is about or what data is added to the site; every time something transpires on the site, you get to know about it. So I could update you on the stock market in New York or tell you about some new book I'm reading. And what is great is that also this benefits me if I am producing a new product or company offering, as my RSS follower you get to hear about it first..

On that point, if you have a website with an RSS feed or are thinking about using one in the future, you will want to get your feed out to as many directories as possible. This can be time consuming but as a foot note you may want to contemplate using software like Magic Submitter to do it for you.

2. It cuts down on wasted time on the net.

An RSS gives you an overview of the main content so you actually get to choose whether if it is worth looking at so you get to make a decision which sites to look at rather than having to waste time discovering the fact..

3. You have the power to decide what you receive and not.

Just because you subscribe to a site doesn’t mean you are there for ever. You can change your subscriptions as and when you want. Get tired of the content a site produces; not receiving high quality content anymore then change it. You are in control.

4. You don’t have to worry about endless emails coming to your inbox. That just doesn’t happen.

You will have to give an email address to subscribe when you first sign up but but as you subscribe to what is called an aggregator to read your feeds, you will not be inundated with updates in your email box.

5. Because you are not using email to receive updates it is therefore spam free.

When you subscribe to anything on email you run the risk of receiving spam because your address gets sold on etc. You don't have to worry about that with an RSS because as already mentioned in point four you are not using your email account to receive the feeds.

6. You can unsubscribe at any time completely hassle-free.

If you want to unsubscribe from an email list sometimes you have to jump through hoops, giving reasons why you want to unsubscribe etc. The beauty of RSS is you simply delete the feed and no one asks any questions.

7. You can use RSS as a way of marketing or advertising your product or service.

One way RSS benefits both provider and subscriber is through marketing. As a provider you are building a relationship with your subscribers and if do this in a correct manner then you can tell them about any new products or service through your RSS feed. There is one thing you can do as a publisher and that is to look at getting your RSS feed out to RSS Feed Directories through something such as Magic Submitter. As a subscriber you get to decide if the product you are being told about is worth looking more into, or you can simply ignore it.

Now you have seven reasons why RSS is certainly worth using and the ease behind it will certainly make your life so much easier than it is now
