Hey! Figure This One Out For Me
High Definition televisions give us a lot of techno-slang about why it is good, which translates into a clear picture on the screen we happen to be looking at. But honestly is it that big of a jump from normal televisions…? Is it as big as no-color to color television? Honestly I don’t think it’s that big. It is nice to see things crystal clear and if you had some extra money lying around, it wouldn’t be a bad spend. Is it necessary? Will it pay off? No and no, but I like it J. But for those of us who live in fear of gratuitous amounts of money, the expense should be waited upon for the next level of technology or at least until the expense isn’t so much of an expense. So There is where we as consumers have to draw the line… it’s different for everybody. Is the product worth the money I’m about the throw down on it? Is the technology really that life-improving? Is it possible that this technology will be surpassed in a short time? These questions and more must be asked by the fear-full/”smart” consumer/non-spender. I love television… can I just say that? I love it with all my heart. Why do I spend countless hours looking at a box that shows me pictures and tells me my hearts desire (sports scores). I don’t know and I’m positive that even after I ask such a soul-searching question that certain habits will still not change. I guarantee that I will still be watching the TV even during nuclear fallout. In fact I think I’d still watch it even if it wasn’t on. And The HDTV improves the quality and immersive ness of my TV watching experience. I love it. But it’s so hopelessly pointless when I really think about it. I recently bought direct TV’s HDTV and it makes me oh so emptily happy J. With direct TV HD I’m immersed in the world of sharp detail-ridden excitement and/or sloppy love scene, I especially like how sweaty Dwayne Wade looks under the sharp surgical knife of High Definition. I wager that I could decipher “The Sweatiest Athlete” award from my home living room. It gives me such power. But it’s also endlessly frustrating… with more channels to choose from, there’s so much to lose. What if “CSI” and “the Simpsons” are on at the same time and I spend all my time trying to switch the channel back and forth between those two that I completely miss “Utah vs Cleveland” on TNT, the thing I REALLY want to watch. This is what I would describe as something close to hell. But this is a minor complaint despite the severity of language used. Overall HDTV is a worthy purchase if packaged with satellite television. On the cusp of civilization is where we now live. On the rising wave of technology, the break is inhabited by many new and interesting things. Many are riding the wave and despite the constant excitement can fall to a slightly painful and generally un-dangerous crash. I on the other hand wait handily at the shore for stuff that burns out and is value-decreased. However I concur, I love technology and what it gives us. Although mostly pointless and could be lived without, my quality of life seems to go both directions at once. Maybe when mobile internet access becomes mainstream (maybe it already has, I don’t pretend to know) and I buy it, I think I’ll become obese.
