Hi And Welcome To Another Trick Tip From James Blog, This Week We Be Learning The Heel Flip.
Before attempting this trick you will need to be able to achieve and perform the following tricks, first is the Ollie and second is the kick flip the latter isn't completely necessary because some people learn the heel flip before the kick flip or vice versa but some form of either trick helps to achieve the other by learning a way to jump above the skateboard during rotation. You want to start with having your feet in an Ollie position then make a few alternations to your positioning, your popping foot needs to be placed on the tail in the concave pocket so that your on your toes but you can feel the board wrapping slightly around your foot. Your flipping foot needs to be just behind the front bolts and having your toes hanging off the edge of the skateboard. You then want to pop and slide your flipping foot up the board and off the front of your skateboard at a slight angle in front of you, leave your front foot at this outward position until the board is fully rotated and then bring your foot back in to catch the skateboard in the air, try to catch the skateboard above the bolts so that when you land you balance can be distributed evenly making the roll away as simple and easy as possible. Having good cheap skate shoes can also help with this trick it is important that you skateboard and shoes that you wear are comfortable and work well for you, skateboard bearings and wheels can also help with speed roll away from the trick as easily as possible. Another tip to achieving this trick is to make sure that your weight is distributed right when doing this you should have slightly more weight over your nose throughout this trick so that the board does not flip any other way that completely horizontal.
