High Blood Pressure - Defined And How To Lower It Naturally

High Blood Pressure – What is it?

It is estimated that about 65 million Americans have high blood pressure, or hypertension. Because hypertension doesn’t have any symptoms, almost 40% of people that have it don’t know it.

What is Blood Pressure?

Blood pressure is the force that is exerted on the arteries as blood passes through them. The higher the blood pressure, the more stress on the arteries which means more stress on the body. The longer the pressure stays high, the more damage that is done on the arteries and the more likely for a heart attack or stroke.

Measuring Blood Pressure

Blood Pressure is measured with two numbers, one over the other, such as 120/80. The top number is the systolic pressure and the bottom number is the diastolic pressure. The systolic pressure is the pressure when the heart is beating. The diastolic pressure is the pressure when the heart is at rest.
