Advanced placement courses are advanced courses that students can take on subjects such as English, math, science, social science, and foreign language. These courses are meant to demonstrate that students can complete high school coursework comparable to that done in a freshmen level college class. Often, colleges and universities will give students college-level credit if they complete the course and pass the advanced placement exam distributed by College Board. Students are not required to take these courses. However, they are a good option for college bound students.
