Holiday Happenings At Atlanta Botanical Garden
The garden premiers its stunning Garden Lights Holiday Nights show to the public on November 19. Visitors will be treated to a light show featuring nearly one million lights throughout the garden and around the Great Lawn. This will be three times as many lights as illuminate the Christmas tree at New York’s Rockefeller Center. In keeping with the garden’s green commitment, the lights will be energy efficient LED bulbs, which consume 80% less energy than incandescent lights. As visitors stroll through the garden at night, they will see traditional holiday elements such as stars and trees as well as more whimsical butterflies, bees, and a giant praying mantis. A highlight of the show will be the Canopy Walk, where visitors will be able to view a galaxy of stars, trees, and luminaries lighting up the woodlands. On the Great Lawn 200 topiaries will change colors to choreographed holiday music. During the Garden Lights show, food will be available for purchase in the garden. The MetroFresh Café will serve soups, chili, salads, pita pizzas, and beverages. Kids may want to make their own S’mores by the fire pits. Garden Lights is open from November 19-January 7 from 5-10pm. Tickets are $18.95 for adults and $12.95 for ages 3-12. Event parking is $5 at the SAGE Parking Facility. There are plenty of daytime activities going on in the garden during the holidays. The popular Holiday Model Train Show returns this season. G-scale trains run along five tracks in an outdoor setting. The Botanical Express Ride-On-Train will run every weekend and on select weekdays. Rides around the Great Lawn are $2 per person. Visitors on December 10 will be able to watch the annual Reindog Parade, where dogs will be decked out in their best holiday attire competing for prizes. Children are invited to visit with Santa on November 25-27 and December 3 and 10 from 10am-4pm. Visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden this holiday season as it transforms into a twinkling winter wonderland. Daytime hours during the holiday season are from 9am-4pm. Ticket prices are $18.95 for adults and $12.95 for ages 3-12. Garden Lights Holiday Nights requires a separate ticket.
