Holidays are typically a time to get away from the stress of everyday life and to relax, this can be tough though for many families for a multitude of reasons. Getting time off work can be troublesome enough, but it can be made worse with timing it with the children’s school holidays when everyone wants to book those few weeks in the summer off too.

For larger families they may find that they simply don’t have as much money to spend on a holiday as they used to and so the number of destinations may be limited especially with prices increasing sometimes to double the off-peak season rates.

What many families are discovering though is that there are plenty of destinations within the UK that are as fun-filled as any foreign holiday but also come at a fraction of the cost. By not flying you’re also cutting out the expensive flights, taxes and other charges so the cost you are likely to pay will be significantly lower than an overseas holiday.

The one thing that may have put people off holidaying in the UK is the weather, it is true we can have a few hit or miss summers but in recent years the weather over March and April has been very sunny with many of the papers bearing headlines like “The hottest spring on record”, what this means for families is that they can look to taking their holidays during the Easter break which may bag them some savings.

Many popular tourist resorts and typical UK holiday hotspots are home to almost everything you need for an activity-rich holiday with seafronts and beaches being an integral part to resorts like Brighton or Blackpool. Aside from that there is normally plenty of entertainment and shows to see in the evenings at many of these resorts and a whole host of activities for during the day.

There have even been cases where farmland has been put to good use with fun events like paintballing or quad bike riding for the more adventurous types, for the parents there are plenty of relaxing ways to unwind such as spa breaks in larger hotels.

The added advantage of not having to worry about passports or flight tickets for everyone means that travelling in the UK shouldn’t be a major hassle, if driving it is best to remember to time your drive with the traffic reports. There’s nothing worse than being stuck in traffic for hours, for the kids and the adults!
