Holidays Remain Top Priority For Cash Strapped Families
With the credit crunch in full effect (or whatever you want to kid yourself it is/isn’t) there’s no doubt that the amount of money we have to spend on extraneous activities has certainly decreased. With most of our earnings now struggling to meet the rising costs of living in this country it’s a wonder any of us can afford the usual yearly expense of a holiday.
The amazing fact is that for many families the issue of whether or not they’ll be able to afford a holiday this year is out of the question, they will go on holiday come hell or high water and will cut back in other areas if need be in order to enjoy their yearly break from the working world back home.
In order to achieve this goal many people are cutting back on the money spent on going out drinking or to restaurants, a survey of 1,500 families found that nearly a quarter are cutting down on their nights out and their weekly expenditure in order to be able to provide for holidays for next year.
One of the major issues travellers have with their holidays, flying is even being tolerated with almost half of those surveyed saying they’d put up with cheap late deals with uncomfortable seating and even accepting multi stop connecting flights just to make sure that they get to their destination at a reasonable price.
Parents are applying to take their children out of school so that they can get cheaper deals outside of the usual summer months as holidays during this time period are notorious for having massive premiums added. The prevalence of internet deals on cheap holidays to all manner of locations has been attributed to why we’re booking more holidays and to more destinations over the past few years.
In these dark financial times and with all the news of banks sinking without a trace and rising costs it’s bound to get you down and want to be on a beach somewhere. It’s no surprise that holidaymakers say that now more than ever that they need a break from the country!
