Home Tanning Tips

When you tan, UV rays stimulate the production of melanin in your body. Two types of UV rays, UVA and UVB are present, and a combination of these can help you get the perfect tan. The use of these in an indoor tanning facility can definitely give your skin the makeover it may need without the use of a professional salon.

If you are a home user of tanning equipment you must follow the laws that are put into place to regulate the amount of UV exposure. These are in place to help lessen the risk of skin problems and skin cancer later on in life. UV rays can be harmful and even more so in an indoor tanning environment.

First, figure out the type of skin you have, and decide what skin tanning lotion you need to use. Using the proper tanning equipment can help lessen the risk of problems later on. Eye protection is one, and can be accomplished by wearing special eyewear just for a tanning bed. Lips should be slathered in a lip gloss containing sunscreen. Also, properly covering the delicate parts of your face is extremely important, and a step you will be thankful you took years later.

Use a special tanning lotion or oil before tanning to get the best results. While you are tanning you may think that nothing is happening because you are only faintly pink or red. But a tan can take hours to fully develop, so follow the proper tanning process to make sure you do not end up burnt or uneven.

For the best results for indoor tanning, use a moisturizer that has Vitamin D in it after you get your sun tan. This can help keep your skin tan and soft at the same time.
