Hope Is Not Lost, You Can Still Find Lost Documents

Computer users are all aware of the dangers of not saving a file. There are certain instances wherein the computer automatically shuts off due to an empty battery, internal failure or power supply failure. This is most especially annoying when you have been working for hours on a document or presentation. Also, another way to lose your documents is by accidentally deleting them. In cases such as these, what will you do? There’s no need to panic because there are easy ways to recover your missing documents in your computer.


The first thing you can do is hit the Undo button. Certain computer programs such as the Microsoft Word which allows its users to repeat his last action and immediately recover his missing documents. This holds true when you have accidentally highlighted the document and typed a certain letter. Instead of the document, the letter will replace the file. This can be done by going to Edit then choosing the Undo button in order to reverse your previous action.

If you think you have accidentally deleted the file, you can check the Recycle Bin in your desktop. If you are using a Mac, your files go to the Trash. Files which have been deleted either accidentally or in purpose, these files automatically go to your computer’s Trash or Recycle Bin. If you find your file in that folder, you can drag it back to your Desktop or right click on the file and click Restore so that it can be returned to its original file location.

Another way to find your lost documents is by using the backup copy to bring back the missing file. If you back up your hard drive files regularly, you can immediately get the file from the back up medium you originally have. You can back up files using a cd-rom, zip drive or external drive.

You may also search your computer’s hard drive. To do this, you can go to Start and select Search. After that, you can choose the All Files and Folders in order to search for your missing file. You can then type the file name of your missing document in the form and click the search button. The computer will automatically search for your file among your hard drive’s files. Once the computer locates it, you can copy the file back to your Documents or Desktop.

There are file recovery software which offer free document recovery software programs. Examples of these programs are the Undelete Plus, Free Undelete, and the PC Inspector File Recover. These programs will automatically recover your missing files if all of the above mentioned steps have been tried and you still have unsuccessful results. These programs are easy to use and can be done within a few minutes only.

When all else fails, you can hire a professional to locate your missing file. Although this can be expensive, they can find the file you need when everything has already been done. There are a lot of computer stores which cater to all your needs in a computer. All you have to do is bring your CPU to the store and have them take a look at it.

Once you are able to find the file, you have to make sure that you remember where you keep them. This is to avoid any other problems you may have about losing documents.
