Summer months for many are all about getting down to the beach and splashing about in the sea. For others, the perfect way to spend a summer day is relaxing in the garden, cooking food that has been freshly cooked on the barbeque.
If you want to host a barbeque event then you'll find that it can be great fun, without necessarily being as much hard work as you might imagine. The key to having a successful event, while still being able to enjoy the day yourself, is to ensure that you are organised and prepare properly.
This doesn't mean that you have to organise everything like a military campaign. A BBQ is, when all's said and done, a casual event.
What you will want to do will be to get as much preparation out of the way as you can, since this will mean that you'll have much more time to relax on the actual day.
You may be thinking that this all sounds good in theory but that there's a limit to how much preparation that you can do. Isn't the whole point of a BBQ that you should do all of the cooking outdoors, where everyone can see what you're doing?
Although there is some truth in this, there are large parts of the day that you will be able to get out of the way a long time before any guests arrive.
Firstly, think about what you will be cooking. Things like kebabs can easily be prepared early and left in the fridge until such time as you are ready to cook them.
Any food that is going to be cooked in a marinade will actually taste much better if it is prepared early, as it will allow time for the meat to take on the flavours of the sauce.
What about the drinks? You're not intending on simply serving up beer or wine are you? Impress your guests by creating a punch or cocktail!
These can be prepared early and they make a stunning drink that all can enjoy!
