There's nothing quite as romantic and geared towards the spirit of getting closer to a significant other than taking a relaxing trip together. Of course, one problem lies in the fact that most hotels are not inherently romantic. Sure, you can spend a lot of money and get a honeymoon suite at a posh resort, but most people don't have the budget for that. So what can you do to enhance the romanticism of your hotel room selection? Well, there are a lot of things you can do, actually. Here are some of them.

Get a Good View

Even if you're staying in a wonderful location with beautiful vistas, it won't mean much if you narrow your options to rooms that have only a view of the highway. Take this into consideration when finding a room. You might have to pay a little more for a view of the ocean, compared to a view of the dumpsters, but it will make all the difference in the world in terms of romanticism.

Go Early and Decorate

If it's within your power, try to separate from your significant other and get to the room early. Many hotels will accommodate you if you want to do something special to surprise your partner. They may even have some suggestions or some decorations that can help you turn the room into the romantic paradise you envisioned. It can be difficult to pull this off, of course, on a two-person vacation, so you may have to manufacture a reason later to get your spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend out of the room so you can get to work.

Change the Sheets

While good hotels will provide you with clean, pressed sheets that will be reasonably comfortable, chances are they aren't going to be romantic in the least. Nothing says romance like satin sheets, so bring some with you. Tear off the stock linens and replace them with your purchased set. The slick feeling just lends itself to a more inviting atmosphere.

Candlelight

There's no reason why romance at a hotel has to be any different than romance at home. One of the cornerstones of setting a romantic atmosphere is candlelight. Now, most hotels will frown on lighting candles in the room, and it's probably not the best idea. Luckily, flameless candles are common these days. They run on batteries and give off the same ambience as their traditional counterparts. Accompany the candles with some "in the mood" music, and your room will be unrecognizable even to the housecleaning staff!
