Hotels - Tips For Traveling The Country
Don't settle for advertised prices if you are looking to stay in a room for a long time. A stay of more than a few days could get you better rates at many hotels. Negotiate the price with the clerk and staff. Some places will not budge on their prices, while others are more than willing to accommodate guests looking for a better deal. You can usually tell right away whether or not the staff is willing to dicker on the price. No one wants to be bothered by yelling and other such noise when they are trying to relax, watch some television, or simply get some sleep. For this reason, you might consider asking for a room as far away from the pool as possible. The pool is going to be a noisy area. This is the truth at nearly all hotels. If you don't want to be bothered by the noise, ask for a room that gives you some buffer space. The same goes for noisy highways, should the place you are staying be near one. Even the most secure hotels can have breaches in security. Don't leave it up to the staff to protect you. Be your own advocate and follow some simple safety rules. This can keep your belongings from being stolen and prevent you from being the victim of criminal activity. Keep your door locked at all times. Don't open it to anyone you don't know. Consider storing your valuables in a place other than the room's safe. Many hotels have a common passkey used as the "emergency open" code. Unfortunately, this pass code is rather common knowledge, which means your valuables aren't safe from those in the know, and certainly not from the staff themselves. Plan ahead of time. If you make your reservations far in the future, you'll have more dates to choose from and you'll have a better selection of rates. If you choose to vacation in a busy spot at a busy time, don't be surprised when you have to pay higher rates.
