'house M.d.' Season 5 On Dvd

The verdicts are variable for Season 5 of House, M.D., which is now out on DVD. Whether they enjoyed Season 5 or not, fans of the program agree that it was different. For instance, Cameron and Chase were not included as heavily, and some fans felt that the season was more overdone than earlier seasons.

Viewers that enjoyed Season 5 report that the season connects with the viewers better than in other shows, and that the viewer learns more about how House's is affected by his mental demons. The overriding sentiment is that if Hugh Laurie is in the show it will continue to be a complex, smart television show. Even medical professionals who watch the show say that despite its sensationalistic presentation, the show is very affecting and does give the fans an idea of the processes a physician experiences when trying to make a difficult diagnosis.

Fans who were somewhat disappointed by House M.D. Season 5 complain that the writing is uneven: the season starts out strong, goes through some less exciting episodes mid-season, then picks up steam during the remainder of the season. Something that did not entertain many fans was what they believed to be a blatant and hokey way of planting the seeds of a P.I. spinoff prlogram by making use of a character that was not necessary to the show. Other objections were that the episodes were less interesting and that inconsistent writing prompted House's trademark biting humor to cross the line into unnecessary shock value occasionally.

The 24 episodes making up Season 5 allow non-work and workplace boundaries to shift repeatedly among the main characters. Special appearances in Season 5 include eljko Ivanek, Mos Def, and Carl Reiner. The DVD collection includes extras covering adjustments to Dr. Cuddy's life, how the show is cast, and the level of accuracy in the plots. The collection also contains a 100th episode celebration, and commentary for the program about the patient with the "locked-in syndrome."

Between those watchers who enjoyed Season 5 and those who were less satisfied, the vast majority say they still enjoy the show a lot and are happily awaiting House, M.D., Season 6.
