House Passes Dream Act, But U.s. Senate May Not Pass It
Wishing the DREAM Act will be a 'path to citizenship' Children brought to the United States as an illegal immigrant before becoming 16 years old is what the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act is supposed to be focused on. Applying through citizenship through the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act could be a wonderful thing. Young adults can be able to have a "temporary" status for six years. At that time, it would be required that these people go to college at that time with their own cash. They could go to the United States military too. The effect of the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act has brought on a lot of anger. Heated debates have happened. The majority are arguing that "amnesty" is being given to too many immigrants with the bill. It would make it lawful for about 2 million illegal immigrants to be in the country. Another thing making individuals angry is the belief that paying for tuition wouldn't be too expensive for the immigrants. They would get in-state tuition rights. It is continually pointed out that many of the young adults did not come to the country by their own free will. They were forced to come. There would be no PELL grants and no welfare given to these immigrants so they could "prove themselves" during a six year "trial period" showing they should be in the country. Right now, the vote for Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act Though the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act approved the House of representatives on a 216-198 mostly party-line election; it might not become law. It is possible that a filibuster might happen in the U.S. Senate. That would mean the DREAM Act might never pass. The Education Secretary and Homeland Security Secretary support the DREAM Act. It was made public. There would be increased economic activity and decreased enforcement costs, suggests the Congressional Budget Office, if the DREAM Act does pass. This could mean a $1.4 billion drop in the federal deficit too. Obama has agreed to sign the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act if it passes the U.S. Senate too.
