Monounsaturated Fats

Monounsaturated fats are most often found in various types of oils, seeds, and even avocados. Olive oil is a good source of monounsaturated fats, as is canola oil and peanut oil. Various nuts and seeds also contain healthy monounsaturated fats.

Polyunsaturated Fats

Polyunsaturated fats are also found in various types of oils and nuts and seeds. Vegetable oils are a popular place to find polyunsaturated fats. Vegetable oils such as corn oil, cotton seed oil, and sunflower oil are good choices.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are most often found in various types of cold water fish. Mackerel and salmon are fatty fish that contain high amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids. These fats are also found in walnuts, flaxseed, and flaxseed oil.

Consume Healthy Fats

While we should always limit fats in our diet, there are ways to do that while still getting the healthy fats that you need.

Most vegetable oils have no cholesterol and no trans fatty acids, which are high on the list of bad fats. Vegetable oils also contain many things that are good for you, such as Vitamin E, antioxidants, and carotenoids. These help with heart health, lung function, liver health, and as a preventative measure to some cancers, diabetes, and heart disease.

There are so many choices in our world today. While there are many oils and fats that are healthy for you, it is still a good idea to limit your fatty intake. A healthy choice is to stay away from as many unhealthy fats and oils as possible. Healthy fat products are an excellent way to help you trim out the negative influences in your daily diet, and enjoy the same foods you’ve always loved with a little less concern over your health and wellbeing.
