How Do I Stop Negative Thinking In My Life?
Take inventory of everything good in your life. Write a list of everything you can. Think about that makes you happy or could make you happy if you let it. Take note of anything your mind starts as good and then tells you 'no that is a negative'. This is the perception you must change first. For example if you think of your job and your mind says "I hate that job" look for what you do like. Even if the pay is low you still do get paid. There are several people right now that would trade their unemployment for your paying job. How about medical benefits, vacations, bonuses and other things that you are glad you have. Take control of your thoughts. If you find yourself thinking "he makes me so mad" stop and think about what that really means. You are giving someone else control over you. Not such a good feeling is it? Knowing someone else owns you. Come with alternatives to your negative self talk. This leads to... Change your self talk. Negative people constantly are putting the negative spin on everything they see, say and do. You find your first thought when a new challenge presents itself is "I can't do that" or "how stupid is that idea!” If you can notice that you can change it. Embrace the challenge and tell yourself over and over you can do it. Allow nothing to stop you. Something could slow you down BUT nothing will top you. Take these tips and apply them with these actions and your life will become what you really have wanted. 1. When you wake up each and every morning, before greeting your mate or family, study your written list of good things in your life. Read it slowly and allow your self to feel the emotions associated with each of the good things. 2. Take control of our thoughts with this challenge. For the next thirty days place a card in your pocket and mark it every time you say or think a negative thought. Your goal is to have a blank card after thirty days. If you mess up by saying or thinking a negative thought then the 30 days starts all over. Once you go a full thirty days, reward yourself big-time you deserve it! 3. Change your self talk by changing your habits. First reduce your TV time to shows that educate or up lift. Dramas, soap operas and the like do not up life as a general rule. With this new found time read good books and listen to motivational CDs. Listen to each a minimum of 16 times as research shows it takes that amount to really hear the message and have it become a part of your own self talk. Listen in your car and before you retire for the night. Get to the point where you can finish the sentences and you will be talking positively to yourself. 4. Before you retire review your day, set up a plan for tomorrow and study the good things list again. Allow the great emotions associated with your list to be your last feeling and thoughts before drifting off to sleep. Inventory of good, control your thoughts and changing your self talk will stop negative thinking and replace it with uplifting, positive thoughts that will make a difference in your life.
