My best friend of thirty years was starting to have a very tough time at his job. He has worked at a pepper processing plat for about 20 years and has been very happy. He is the head maintenance person and is in charge of keeping the equipment running so the plant can process the pepper.
He has his own little shop where he does all the welding and fabrication on the machines used for the processing. For a long time he was very comfortable going to work everyday knowing that what he does is important for the company. Having one of the highest positions he also had a lot of respect from his peers.
The money was not bad but also wasn’t that great either. With his wife’s income he has always been able to do the things that he loves to do. But all of a sudden all of that changed.
The company was taken over by a new owner. The new owner was convinced that the company could do much better if he just tightened down on the employees. So the first thing he did is start to change the company’s policies.
No longer could they talk to each other while on the clock or do anything else that generally makes people comfortable while they are at work. The next step was to have supervisors constantly watching over employees like a warden. Know one felt comfortable with this and all the morale went right out the window.
Employees that have been there for years started to leave and find new jobs. The final straw for my friend was when they installed cameras throughout the entire building. For months he had been telling about what was going on there and how unhappy he was becoming.
One weekend we got together to watch the fights he told me about the cameras. He said that he had finally had enough and he was open to any way that he could get out of that situation. He new that a few months before I had started my own home business.
He wanted to know if it was possible if he could do the same thing. I told him that he could do it in his spare time while he was working his present job. So he took a look at what I was doing and decided to give it a go.
That was four months ago and last month he left his job and is making 5 figures a month! One of the most satisfying moments for me was when he said thanks for helping him get out of the bad place he was in.
