How long does it take to write a book? That depends on how motivated you are to do the work involved, and how much time you’re willing to take out of your day to do the actual planning and writing. You see, there’s really no set time to write your book. You can write it as fast or as slow as you wish – the important thing is that you commit to completing your book project. Some people can take several years to write a book. In my opinion, this length of time is completely unnecessary. Anyone who drags out the writing process for more than 12 months, has got other problems they’re dealing with – like lack of focus. I’m mentioning this because it’s real easy to get started with a writing program, then after a week or so, you get less motivated to complete your writing assignments. Just imagine what would happen if you took a college class and then suddenly decided not to show up or participate in the learning process. You’d fail that class pretty quickly and get nothing for your initial efforts. Well, writing a book is a commitment of time and effort. There’s no point in starting if you can’t finish. So, my advice to you is to decide how much time you want to devote to writing your book, then add on the time it will take to get it published. If you go the self-publishing route, it will take an additional four to eight weeks to get a final version done. If you want to write a book in a month, then do it. If you want to write a book in three months, then do it. If you want to write a book in six months, then do it. Take some action and follow through. You’ll be glad you did.
