How Long Does It Take To Write A Book And Get It Published?

Writing a book is a great way to share your knowledge, ideas and creativity with others.

How long does it take to write a book?

That depends on how motivated you are to do the work involved, and how much time you’re willing to take out of your day to do the actual planning and writing. You see, there’s really no set time to write your book. You can write it as fast or as slow as you wish – the important thing is that you commit to completing your book project.

Some people can take several years to write a book. In my opinion, this length of time is completely unnecessary. Anyone who drags out the writing process for more than 12 months, has got other problems they’re dealing with – like lack of focus.

If you are writing on a part-time basis and being very consistent with your time and energy, you should finish a book within six months. Many aspiring authors have busy lives and must squeeze in the time to work on their book when they can. Still, if you can write for just 1 hour a day, or even 30 minutes a day, you’ll be surprised at how much you can get done this way.

For those folks who want to go faster, there are many good book writing seminars on line that can help you to churn out a book from start to finish within several weeks. This is possible because there are several writing “tricks of the trade” that can be quickly learned, which allows you to greatly speed up the process.

If you decide to join a program for writing a book, just make sure that you absolutely have a strong desire to complete your book within a certain frame of time. I’m mentioning this because it’s real easy to get started with a writing program, then after a week or so, you get less motivated to complete your writing assignments.

Just imagine what would happen if you took a college class and then suddenly decided not to show up or participate in the learning process. You’d fail that class pretty quickly and get nothing for your initial efforts.

Well, writing a book is a commitment of time and effort. There’s no point in starting if you can’t finish. So, my advice to you is to decide how much time you want to devote to writing your book, then add on the time it will take to get it published. If you go the self-publishing route, it will take an additional four to eight weeks to get a final version done.

If you want to write a book in a month, then do it.

If you want to write a book in three months, then do it.

If you want to write a book in six months, then do it.

Take some action and follow through. You’ll be glad you did.
