How Marketing A Local Business Goes
Seeing things from your audience’s perspective plays a huge role in a successful marketing strategy. A business owner or a marketing person needs to precisely pinpoint to whom the company or the product will be marketed in order to create content accordingly. This might seem simple, but it entails a lot of work. So, what is marketing and how does marketing a local business go? Take it from David Packard, co-founder of Hewlett-Packard, who said "Marketing is too important to be left to the marketing people." Why did he say that? What is so important about marketing that it should not be left solely on the hands of marketing people? What benefit does marketing a local business have? Peter Drucker, who is considered the father of Business Consulting, often chastised businesses saying, "The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service fits him and sells itself." What good is your business if it does not have any customer? If this is the case, what changes does that business need to undergo to lure in customers? Again, let’s hear it from Peter Drucker who observed the purpose of marketing to be: "Because the purpose of business is to create a customer, the business enterprise has two – and only two – basic functions: marketing and innovation. Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs. Marketing is the distinguishing, unique function of the business." Having observed this, we can surmise that successful marketing is a systematic approach to the marketplace, which is made up of customers and clients creating demand for the goods and services being sold. Marketing is nothing but a system whose sole purpose is to communicate with the marketplace. Marketing processes, therefore, are specific conversations between a business and a market composed of customers and clients vying for an assortment of products and services. Every relationship starts with a single conversation. The same goes for marketing relationships.
