How Phrasing Can Mlm And Direct Sales Success

Previously we covered the pause, those moments of silence that when used correctly, allow your listener to focus on what the message of your presentation. A phrase, are those words that lead to the pause. They are the ideas or concepts that you need your audience to be focused on when you pause.

Phrasing is a great tool that the best speakers use to deliver their presentation in easily enjoyed pieces. Pieces that can be easily interpreted by the human brain. Listen to other speakers and you will hear the verbal equivalent to a run-on-sentence. They run more than one idea together and quickly leave their audience in the dust. they have now lost the focus of their audience. Their still back somewhere wondering about that thing you said 30 seconds ago.

A phrase can be as simple as one word. Good, is a phrase. On average a phrase will be limited to no more than seven or eight words. Warning, don’t mistake the principles of the text with those of speech. a written sentence is not the same as a phrase. For example the sentence. “Tonight I would like to show you the greatest marketing opportunity in history” . This sentence while complete can be divided and phrased a few different ways. “Tonight/ I would like to show you/ the greatest marketing opportunity in history”. “Tonight I would like to show you/ the greatest marketing opportunity in history”. “Tonight/ I would like to show you/ the greatest marketing opportunity/ in history.” Try them all with the / being pauses and you will discover two things. Firstly, that they all bring a different understanding to the text. As well one of them feels and sounds better
to you than the others. This is the one you want to use but remember. Some listeners may need you to adjust your phrasing for the needs or interest of the listeners.

Here’s a way you can see this in action. Go to the White House website and look at some of the presentations of President Obama. Hear the phrasing and how he constructs pauses. Now you can start to conceive how the power of phrasing can grab the understanding of the audience to take action.
