How To Avoid The Pitfalls Of Work At Home Scams

I think it is pretty safe to say that the majority of the population would love to work from home. After all, you don’t have to deal with a snotty co-worker, traffic, cost of gas, or that person breathing over your shoulder. The problem is, there are so many people out there just to make a buck, they throw their principles away (if they had any to begin with), and you are stuck with a debt for a product or information that was supposed to generate some money for you.

Here are some tips to avoid the pitfalls when you are looking to do your own business.

Realize that the pitch page is there to get you all excited so you spend your money. You’ve got to learn to read between the lines and there are some general rules of thumb that should help you to protect yourself.

First of all, they will have an amazing number listed for the money that CAN be made using their process or product. Some ‘companies’ are, to put it politely, exaggerating, BUT there are others where that number is achievable. You have to understand that the legitimate companies are going to post what is probably their best producing member’s numbers. Also, keep in mind that the number given will be gross not net.

A legitimate company is going to have a money back guarantee on their pitch page for you to see. Quite frankly, 30 days isn’t enough – you want to watch for something that gives you 2 months or more. Also, a two-month time frame (or 60 days) should give you enough time to get through enough of the information to get some of it implemented and actually generating some money.

Lastly, be careful of any sponsored review website. If the website is sponsored then you can assume that they are getting a kickback if you sign up for whatever company that they are saying is the best. Legitimate review sites will give you lots of information on multiple programs/products. If it says TOP 10 reviewed and when you look at the webpage there is only one given – STAY VERY FAR AWAY! Don’t get me wrong, I am sure there are other legitimate review websites, those sites are less likely to be under sponsored links but they still can be.

To be safer while on the website, never enter your personal credit card on their website, they should have a legitimate third party that processes everything, such as Paypal or Clickbank. Both of those companies have extra policies to protect you and give you another weapon to get your money back if you so desire.

When you do sign up for anything – DOCUMENT IT! Write down the day that you processed everything, and print out a copy of the receipt. If you decide to get your money back, write down the details of the names of people you spoke with (and their agent id #), day, time, and conversation and print out copies of any emails that you send. More often than not these days there is a confirmation cancelation # - print it out or write it down.

So far I have found one website that follows the above criteria, but keep in mind I’ve only been through about 50, and that is www.mavericksmoneymakersplace.com. There is tons of information here about what to do, how to do it, and where to go for the best prices. There is a monthly membership fee, but there is also the 60 day money back guarantee. If you want to make money online at home, join the club that has more information than you can take in at one sitting!
