1.First of all, you need a software which supports recording from Cassette Tapes, Turntables and other similar portable players.

2.Then, you need to connect output of your tape player to Line in of your computer sound's card. This way the computer will capture output of your tape player with the help of recording software. You need a cable to connect tape player and computer's sound card. In most instances, you would either need a Stereo to Stereo cable or a RCA to Stereo cable.

3.Adjust the output levels in the software to make sure that recording is not distorted and you get excellent quality recordings.

4.If you want to enhance the recording or remove any type of parts from the recording, you need to use the editing features of the software. However, in most cases, you won't need to edit your songs.

5.Once the recording and editing is done, save the resultant file and burn the file on to CD. That's it!

That's all you need to do to record cassettes to CDs. Here are some things which you need to know so that you can record cassettes to CDs without compromising the recording quality :-

1.If you are recording from tapes, you really don't need an amplifier. Make sure that you don't use one otherwise you might end up recording too loud and this will certainly distort the recording.

2.Make sure that you don't use Microphone Jack instead of Line in. There will be a big different in the quality and Microphone jack will give you extremely poor quality. Always make sure to use Line In Jack.

3.Buy a software which offers clear cut help wizards. Don't end up buying several different software to record cassettes to CDs. Make sure that all the features are bundled in one software. When I say all the features, I mean you should be able to record, break the file into individual songs, clean up any noise from the recording and Burn CDs.
