Yes, you read that correctly, understood. You may perhaps not know this, but a great deal of your readers (most probably the greater part if you're a novice copywriter) never truly get what you have to declare. It is a bit akin to what you thought when you come upon a worthless sales copy.


What is it attempting to get across?

What does it want from me?

Why should I listen to it?

Why should I trust what the sales copy declared?

These are all matters running through your customer's brain in a millisecond. And if you're a persuasive copywriter, you should have anticipated those matters and answered them early in your sales copy. If there's just one matter lingering in your potential customer's brain, they'll never take the next step.

They vanish.

But that's not what this post is mainly about. Here's my question to you: How to compellingly address those matters to persuade? I mean, there're various ways you can use to address those matters.

That's what I wish to deliberate about here. A copywriting tip to increase sign-ups by speaking in your customer's language.
Talking in your prospect's language guarantee that you are understood.

Suppose advertising to a French market in German. Certainly you might get a hold of a few sales, but most of them will not.

And believe it or not, the distinction between the language carpenters use and the language gardener use, is likewise different. So the first stage to being understood is obviously, finding out your customer's language.

For instance, one of my niche market is the in console gaming business. And in that community, one of the words they imply frequently to explain a category of game is RPG.

If you're not engaged with the gaming community, you wouldn't appreciate what RPG represents. And even if I teach you what it represents (role playing game), you would not appreciate what it means.

Now pretend you just enter the gaming niche, and you're seeking to sell a role playing gamewalkthrough for your customer. In your online store, you name the game as something but RPG. Not only will you look silly, you'll never sell anything either.

Even Squidoo-ers possesses its own language. If you've never used Squidoo, you would never know what a lensography is.

But language is only step one in talking in your prospect's language. Phase two is for another article.
