Having an anxiety or panic attack can feel like you’re going to die. I know, for years I suffered from them. I would feel an anxiety or panic attack creep up on me and I’d get real nervous, I’d begin to pace for floor and I’d feel like my life was going to flash before my eyes.
There were times when I had to leave the pew at church because I was having a panic attack and I just couldn’t sit still, I had to get up and move. I’d often pray to God and ask “Please, Lord…show me how to cure anxiety and panic attacks forever”.
You’re not alone in coping with anxiety and panic attacks. There are millions of other people just like you going through the same stress that you are. But you don’t have to. There are cures for anxiety and panic attacks that don’t require drugs or expensive medications.
Let me give you a few exercises that you can do today that will help cure anxiety and panic attacks. There are many more, and I’ll show you those later. But here are a few that I’ve found work the best.
The first thing I did when I was wondering how to cure anxiety and panic attacks was think of things in my head (while having the panic attack) that I knew were absolutely true. Let me explain. I thought that I was going crazy when I’d have a panic attack. Almost like I was losing my mind or something.
So what I’d do was think of the dates and times of people’s birthdays I knew. I would recite my daughter’s birthday and my birthday. Like this. 9/28/1996 2:22 a.m. on Saturday. 7 pounds 13 ½ ounces and 21 inches long. 11.10.1977.
I would go through those rock solid dates and times and it would help me through the panic attack.
Second, you can do aerobic exercise to help cure anxiety attacks. Curing your panic attacks or at least reducing the symptoms is possible with aerobic exercise. Doing aerobics will make you breathe faster and deeper. This will allow more oxygen in your bloodstream. It’ll also help you develop a more positive attitude.
Now I’m not suggesting you put on the leotards in the middle of the office. But, if you’re having a panic attack when you’re at home or something then try the aerobics.
And the third thing you can to help cure your panic attacks is practice some breathing exercises. (Now these you CAN do at the office and nobody will know).
When you feel the anxiety attack begin, close your eyes and take a deep breath. Now hold that breath for a 4 count. Then exhale for a four count. Next, breathe in for a 6 count, hold your breath for a six count, and then exhale for a six count. Last, breath in for a 10 count, hold your breath for a 10 count and exhale for a 10 count. Like this…
Breathe in (it should take you 10 seconds to take this breath).
Hold your breath for 10 seconds.
Exhale (it should take you 10 seconds to do the exhale). Count to ten (in your head) while doing this breathing exercise. And don’t worry if you can’t get to 10 just yet. Start small. Start with 4 seconds and go up from there.
This breathing exercise will help you body get the oxygen it needs AND take your mind off the panic attack. You’ll be so focused on how to breathe properly, you’ll totally forget about the panic attack all together.
Learning how to cure anxiety and panic attacks without medication is very much doable. Remember, I suffered through anxiety for years before I conquered it. I believe you will too.
