How To Eat The Paleo Way
One of the more popular benefits of the Paleo diets is the weight loss associated with it. Since this diet is naturally low in carbohydrates and high in lean protein and fiber, your digestive system will increase over time; assisting with weight loss. Research has proven that the Paleo diet can help you to lose up to 15 pounds in 6 months naturally; even more if you add a decent exercise program to your daily routine. The human genome has only changed about 0.02% over the last 40,000 years, leaving us with the genetic “memory” of our ancestors’ digestive systems. As a basic rule of thumb; if our ancestors did not eat it, neither should you. The Paleo Diet will also gradually increase your metabolism over time; resulting in a healthier, thinner you. Your digestive system will also improve due to the increase fiber intake you will get from fresh fruit and vegetables. Overall, you will decrease your risk of diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Since you will eliminate all processed foods your body will become healthier as you continue with the Paleo diet. Dairy products, fatty meats and grains should be avoided as well. This means you will need to say goodbye to bread, pasta, oatmeal, cookies, barley, milk, cheese, butter, ice cream, bacon and pepperoni. There are however a lot of great tasting recipes available on this diet and they can be found in the Paleo book by author Dr. Loren Cordain. You will also find a lot of tips and ideas to maximise your results with the Paleo diet. Fruit and vegetables will form a large part of your Paleo Meal Plan. They are high in fiber and provide the necessary vitamins and minerals that your body needs to aid in proper digestion and nutrient uptake. You can easily snack on a piece of fruit in-between your meals or when you feel hungry during the day. As for veggies, you are free to eat them as often as you want, just try to stay away from the starchy ones like potatoes. Nuts and seeds are also recommended, including the favorites like sunflower seeds, macadamias and pecans. Avoid the salted versions though. To summarize, the Paleo Diet is a very healthy meal plan for anyone. It increases your energy levels and significantly improves your digestive health. Based on our ancestors’ dietary habits, the Paleo diet can easily be incorporated into our modern day lives. With a wealth of information available out there and delicious recipes to try, the Paleo diet is a must for anyone.
