How To Fix Windows Stop Errors
What do they look like? Windows STOP errors are identified by an 8-digit hexadecimal number (e.g., a STOP 0x0000000A ). They are also commonly written in a shorthand notation (e.g. Stop 0xA). Often too, four additional 8-digit hex numbers may appear in brackets. They are usually unique to your computer and the specific error and situation. Windows stop errors are almost always due to hardware conflicts or device drivers issues. How to troubleshoot a windows stop message? Here is a short list of things you can do to solve a stop error. If you have recently added new harware parts, remove or disable them. Open your computer box and make sure that all components (eg memory modules) are properly inserted in their sockets and they are well-seated on the motherboard. On many old PC, the heat made by the CPU causes your physical RAM to slowly creep out of their sockets (this is called memory creep). Open the event viewer and check “System” and "Application" logs for past similar errors. These can possibly give you clues on the cause of the current stop error. How do you access the event viewer? It can be opened by typing “EventVwr.msc” in the Run box (found in the start menu). The event viewer can also be accessed this way: Control Panel – Administrative tools – Event viewer. Run hardware diagnostic tools. These are provided by most hardware vendors. Update your device drivers as well as the system BIOS. If however the stop error came up shortly after you installed new device drivers, you may have to roll back to older one or download a different version, preferably directly from the device vendor's site. Check if of your hardware component is on the Hardware Compatibility List. Run your antivirus for any possible infection. Remove or disable any recently installed software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing. Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com Additional resources on windows errors can be found at PC Nirvana.
