Trying a new language for us to speak is something nice, challenging but sometimes boring. Why? Most of the people forget something when they want to learn a new language to speak. They don’t know how to speak a new language for the first time. The don’t know how to start.
The first thing they do is studying the grammar, then apply it to their conversation. Is that a wrong way? No, that is not a wrong way. But just think about this: how much time we have to spend if we start learning a new language by starting form the grammar? Do we want to be so perfect so we don’t want to make mistakes in our conversations? Nothing is perfect, nobody is perfect.
Think again about this: where do you come from? America? England? Or Nederland? If so, are you perfect in your own language? No, nobody is perfect, even in their own daily language.
There are some methods of how to speak English easily. But this one is the easiest for us to apply. We don’t need to do something difficult or boring. Just do these steps:
1. Listen and Repeat
This is a nature way for us in studying English. Did you remember when you were 3 years old? We just listened to what our parents spoke to us, then we repeated it. Easy! If it is, why don’t we use it in English? If we apply it in English, we will never realize how much improvement that we can make.
Listen and repeat is a gift from God. We always forget about this. This is a miracle. Can you see how the animals communicate? The baby first listen to the sound around them. They know which is their mother sound and which is not. Then they respond and repeat what their mother “has said” to them. That is the way they communicate.
2. Don’t Think Grammar
We will get stuck if we do two things in the same time. Imagine, to learn speaking new language is difficult. Don’t bother yourself by thinking bout grammar. Forget it all. Isn’t it important? It is important, but we have to know when we use grammar. In speaking, just forget it.
We will learn about the grammar after we know more bout English. What is the point of studying English? For communication. That’s it. It is not a sin forgetting grammar for a while, then we can make it better later.
