How To Maintain Brown Hair?

We always see all sorts of advice in magazines or brochures on how to take care of curly hair that tangles easily, fragile blond hair, red colored one that loses it shine in just a few days and pitch black type that gets discolored after a few washes. But, what about the brown one? It has been statistically proven that brown hair is most common on the planet. How come then there are very few people giving advice about how to take care of it and how to style it?

There are in fact two major types of brown hair: the natural one and the colored one. In the case of the natural type, it may come in a wide range of structures, which means it may be fragile, rare or thick, with split ends, dry or on the contrary greasy which needs to be washed all the time. The major problem that is common to all types is that it can lose its shine if not taken care of properly.

Like in the case of all hair types, the brown one needs to be washed regularly with a shampoo that suits its structure. If you have greasy hair, choose a shampoo that treats this problem. If on the contrary it is dry, with split ends go for a very hydrating shampoo. Don’t forget about the conditioner. From time to time it is advisable to apply a mask to revitalize it and make it shine.

The type of weather will influence brown hair a great deal. If wind or freezing temperatures may make it drier than usual, sun can lighten up brown hair giving it a reddish tone sometimes. This can also happen when you go to the seaside because the salt in the water or the chlorine in the swimming pool can have the same effect as sun rays. So, if you do not want to wash up the color you have two options: you can cover your head at all times or use a special spray that preserves the intensity of the color. Since only the former is a doable option, don’t forget to pack a surf spray when you go to the seaside.

In what concerns brown hair that was dyed, you should know that the color lightens up even faster than the natural one during summertime. If you want to make sure your hair is shiny and looks like freshly dyed you should use only special shampoos and conditioners for dyed hair. It is important to use professional car products for better and lasting results. This way you can be sure to preserve the same color until you need to get your hair dyed again.
