Frozen or fresh? Fresh edamame is a better alternative. However, if fresh produce is not easily available you can always go for the frozen ones. In choosing them you should be looking for a dark – green color, thick shells and large beans. How do you prepare these soybeans? You can prepare them by following these instructions: 1. Wash the pods and drain them well. 2. Rub them with salt. 3. Boil water in a huge pot and add one tablespoon of salt. 4. Cook the soybeans for 3 to 4 minutes and then drain them again. 5. Arrange the pods in a tray for cooling. Sprinkle more salt on top if you so desire. • One pound of edamame can serve approximately 4 persons. What is its nutritive content? The soybeans have high protein and dietary fiber content. They are also rich in vitamins namely, vitamins A, B and C. When are they ideally eaten?
