How To Promote An Affiliate Site

So you have got your affiliate website up and running, but you aren’t getting any traffic yet. It is time to start promoting that website. Let me share a few ways that you can do this.

Start Making Friends Via Social Networks Like Twitter – If used properly Twitter can be a great way to make friends and establish the foundation for business partnerships. The way that you make real friends on Twitter is not the way that most people are telling you to do it. You don’t just go around following everyone. You should actually hand select a bunch of the most popular people in your niche to follow. Read all of their Tweets and retweet the best ones. When you Retweet someone else’s Tweet, they will see it. Don’t retweet every single one. Just do one here and one there. Do it enough for them to notice you though. Retweet somewhere around 5% of their information. Then start Tweeting your own material as well as any of the best material you come across. As you develop friendships this way, people will start to pay attention to your website.

Make sure you run a blog on your website if your website isn’t already a blog that you are using to promote your affiliate product. The blog is the ideal place for you to initiate contact with new people and vice versa. If you make your blog comments follow and install some plugins to reward commentators then you will get more activity. Consider using plugins like Commentluv and Keywordluv. You might also want to install the Top Commentators plugin. That will get people to come to your website to leave comments. Some of them will link back to you. Give it time. This will take a couple of months to really get rolling. Just be persistent.

Conduct some keyword research for Search Engine Optimization purposes. Figure out which long tail keyword phrases other people are searching for that relate to your affiliate product or niche. Construct a really good blog post or web page for each of the higher traffic searches. Don’t worry if you can’t reach position one for that phrase. You will still get some traffic even if you can’t reach the top spot. You want to create as many of these pages as possible. Cover your topic as thoroughly as possible. Don’t be afraid to link to other resources on other websites. Don’t be afraid to add in extra images and videos to help explain whatever you are trying to get across. The more diverse your content is the better.

Begin an article marketing campaign to generate traffic and backlinks to your website. Article marketing is one of the best ways that you can promote your website. If you do it properly you will get results. The key is to do it on a regular basis over a period of time. You can’t just blast a bunch of articles out there all at once and expect great things to happen. Instead you want a constant presence over time that siphons traffic little by little to your website. Spread those articles out over as many different websites as possible. Link some of the articles together while still keeping a link pointing back to your main website. This helps build a little ring of authority between the articles. Do as much of it as you have time for so long as you are publishing decent articles that are grammatically correct. Make sure that they can actually be read from start to finish by a human.

Follow those four steps and you will be well on your way to generating traffic to your website. Your biggest challenge at that point will be to figure out how to convert that traffic into actual sales.
