Internet marketing, or home business, to newbies can be very daunting. When someone is first introduced into the internet marketing realm, he/she is bombarded with tons of information and offers. He/she may be confused with the information overload and in a sense, get paralyzed and don't know what next to do. This is known as Paralysis By Analysis. Also, he/she may get distracted by the various offers and attempt to do everything at once in hopes of getting more income, but in the end, will get none. Also, if he/she doesn't have any prior programming know-how, it's highly likely that he/she will get confused with all the internet and programming jargon. True, though there's lots of forums around to help, it's still hard to understand and learn!
How do we avoid it then? How can we not be paralzed by information overload and start working? Yes, you need to set goals. This is a definite. You can't just go into home business without knowing what it is that you want! Johnny Wimbrey, a head trainer at Success University shared with me that in order to Think and Win Big, you have to turn your WANTS into MUSTS. If you want to succeed and make money in your home business or internet marketing, you must have a WHY. Here's the formula:
WANT + WHY = MUST
Do you want to make money? Yes! We all do! But do you have a strong reason for it? It has to be a reason strong enough that it will get you burning up inside! If you want to make serious income from your home business through internet marketing, you have got to have a strong reason for it. Because with a strong reason, it will give you the strength to persevere and persist until you get what you want!
This applies to everything that we do in life. It's not just internet marketing, I've used it in my day job as well! If I want to succeed and make more money, I ask myself: "Why do I want it? What's the real reason? When I say it out, will I feel the energy burning in me?" My reason for success is my family. I cannot let my family suffer! That reason gives me power to persist until I reach my success! I've transformed my "I want to succeed" into a "I must succeed!" This will also very often give you the dedication and power to focus when you are face to face with distractions.
What will happen when you decide to focus? Eventually, you will gain enough knowledge and know-how to help others as well! That's where the money comes in. Here's the biggest tip I can give you: Be An Authority. Making consistent income from the internet is truly possible if your visitors identify you as an authority. What do I mean? It means that your visitors see you as a trusted source of information, as a place where they know they can rely on you for excellent reviews, information, links, etc. For example, people use Google and Yahoo! for searching because they are the authorities on searching subjects. People can go to Dell for their computer needs, Hewlett-Packard, Canon, etc for printers, Xerox for their copying needs. You get the drift?
You don't have to be a mega giant authority like these big names but you do need to establish yourself as a place where people can go to, to find the exact information they need! Think about it, if only these mega companies can make it big, then all the rest of the internet marketing realm would have died by now!
But did it? No! It's still alive and kicking - lots of people are still making tons of money using the internet!
