How To Write An English Essay?

English essay is recognized as a literary art form. Great writers of yesteryears like Sir Francis Bacon have immortalized it. Essay is the most common art form too as all of us, during our studies or professional fields are called upon to write some and submit for evaluation. Many of these works would pass on as rubbish while some inspired works accumulate impeccable grading.

An English essay consists of an apt heading, attractive opening sentence or phase, points to ponder and conclusion. All these aspects are not stand alone ones, but should be complementary to each other, thereby bringing in a sense of coherence. An essay job with unconnected points, irrelevant heading, no points to make and inept conclusion would invariably give the examiner what you are – either a disinterested or a disjointed student. You can only imagine what grades such a student would get.

Try as you may, but many of us make silly mistakes while writing English essays. Jumbled words and ideas may pass off as genuine in some other literary art forms, but clarity of thought and forceful expression of ideas is imperative in essay writing. The essay should convey a message as to what it is expressing. There is not need to make others agree to what you say, but what is more important is that whatever you say, whichever idea you want to drive home, it should be done in an appreciative manner.

Having your own ideas and interpretation is good only if you use them at the correct place and at the correct time. Intermingling of unrelated matters can make the reader feel all at sea. The basic purpose of conveying a message is lost here. So proper planning of every line and paragraphs is essential if your essay should be graded constructively.
