How You Can Experience The Success Of Ted Williams

By now, you’ve likely heard the story of “the man with the Golden Voice.” Ted Williams, an ex radio broadcaster, had fallen on hard times over the past number of years. Beginning in 1996, his struggle with alcohol and drugs led to the loss of his career and home. He was reduced to a man begging on a highway off-ramp.

Everyday Williams would stand in the same spot wearing a sign around his neck explaining his god-given talent: his voice. One day, the right person was stopped at his posting and asked him to share his gift. Now Williams has a job with NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers as its radio broadcaster and a deal with Kraft foods to promote macaroni and cheese, and is in talks with the NFL to voice documentaries for its series, NFL Films. Most importantly, he has been reunited with his mother.

Fifteen years of hard living was suddenly wiped away because Williams was in the right place at the right time. Williams once again has the opportunity to wake up every day in a home and go out and pursue the thing he loves: broadcasting.

For those of you feeling down on your luck, let this story remind you that opportunity exists everywhere. You never know who you’re going to meet and what they may be able to do for you. The key is to get out there and let people know that you exist.

When you give up hope and cease to believe in yourself, it becomes much harder to achieve success and move forward. Now, you may not want or need to go out and stand on a street corner in the winter to do it, but there are other ways of giving yourself an opportunity.

Get in touch with old contacts or businesses you’re interested in. Call customers and gauge their interest in a new product line you may developing. No matter what your goals are, take action to meet them! Nothing will ever happen if you sit around idly and wait. You could have all the skills in the world but if nobody knows it, what are they worth?

Good things happen, just ask Ted Williams, the man with the Golden Voice.
