How You Can Improve Quality Score In Google Adwords

If you have any experience running ads in Google AdWords, you no doubt know the frustration of being hindered by poor keyword quality scores. Sometimes you might be absolutely convinced of the relevance of your chosen keywords, not to mention how important those keywords are to advertising your product or service.

Nonetheless, you've gotten stuck with a poor quality score. A poor quality score can mean you pay a lot more to run your ads, or Google may not run your ads at all. But don't despair. There are a number of ways you can improve your keyword quality score and get your Google AdWords campaign back on track.

The two most important factors Google uses to determine your ad rank are quality score and bid. Your quality score is a measure of how relevant each of your keywords is to your ad and your website landing page. Google will use a combination of your keyword quality score and bid to compare your ads against your competitors every time your keyword is searched. So the better your keyword quality score, the better chance you have of getting your ad placed and the less you will pay.

There are a number of ways you can improve quality score in Google AdWords:

1) Choose better keywords
2) Feature keywords in your ads
3) SEO your website landing page

To improve your keyword quality score, start by choosing the right keywords. Your keywords should be specific and relevant to the products or services in your ad and on your website landing page. Avoid keywords that are too general, as it’s difficult to know what is relevant to someone searching a general keyword. For example, if you’re advertising Google AdWords consulting, use specific keywords like “AdWords consulting” and “AdWords Experts” and avoid general keywords like “AdWords” or “Google AdWords.”

Secondly, include keywords in your ads, particularly the headline. Keywords in your headline make your keywords appear much more relevant to your ads and should help increase your quality score.

Thirdly, make sure your website landing page is search engine optimized. With proper SEO, your website landing page will contain all the keywords you use in your Google AdWords campaign, which will improve each keyword quality score.

Keep in mind, your quality score in Google AdWords can change over time. Your quality score will change if you add or change the ads associated with keywords, alter the destination URL associated with your keywords, or experience a change in keyword performance, such as getting more or less clicks.

Since quality scores are based on how relevant your keywords are to your ads and your website landing page, if you alter your ads or website landing page (destination URL) in any way, sometimes the quality score for your keywords will change. If you create ads that are more relevant to your keyword choice, or improve your website landing page through proper search engine optimization, your keyword quality score can improve.

Another factor that can change a keyword quality score is keyword performance. If a keyword begins to perform quite well, as evidenced by your receiving a high click-through rate for associated ads, your quality score can improve. On the flip side, poor keyword performance can lower your quality score.

So remember, keyword quality score is essential in getting your ads run and getting clicks for the lowest possible price. So follow these simple rules and earn high quality scores for your chosen keywords.
