How Is Google's Changes Effecting Businesses

Google has just introduced the new maps profile format called the place pages and the change is actually very interesting, changing the tabbed version of the information bubble to a full page version that includes a variety of rich content about the business that is featured.

In these changes each page that they have created will have its own URL and it has been questioned as to how these pages will rank in a Google search. For now, however, Google claims that they have no real intention of indexing these pages and that these pages will only be accessible from Google Maps feature and not through regular Google search results.

The discussions that are arising in the industry however seem to believe that at some point Google may choose to index these pages. And if they do, then there is the potential for these pages to have an impact on the SEO market as well. It is still yet to be seen how these pages will be used. Some believe that they may be used as landing pages to help direct traffic to smaller, local merchants on the web.

The SEO industry is waiting for the final word as to how these pages will affect their business marketing strategies. Will they be able to use these pages in their marketing strategies? Will these pages serve as potential landing pages for other local advertising as well?

Although, there are still a lot of factors that are unknown about these pages, one thing is for certain, no matter how they are used, there will inevitably be some effect on the SEO market caused by the existence of these new places pages created by Google. The whole industry is buzzing about this latest development and most SEO marketing companies are already thinking about the ways in which they could use these pages to help direct their current advertising. One thing is for certain, that any major change to the structure of the internet is bound to have a ripple effect, and that is why SEO management companies have such a difficult job. In a market that changes as much as this one does, staying up on all the latest changes in the industry can be very challenging.
