How Is Snoring Diagnosed?

For those with a partner who shares the same bed, diagnosing snoring is relatively easy. After all, while the snoring may not wake up the person who is doing the snoring, those who are involved in relationships with snorers are often disturbed by the snoring. If you do not have a partner, however, diagnosing snoring may be a bit more difficult. The same is true if the snoring simply does not bother the person who shares your bed. Furthermore, even if you are fully aware that you are a snorer, you may not know just how heavily you are snoring and there is the possibility that your snoring is the symptom of a more serious condition. Therefore, if you suspect that you may be a snorer, it is a good idea to have your snoring diagnosed.

To diagnose your snoring, your doctor will first ask you questions to learn more about your signs and symptoms. If the doctor feels there is a need to examine the issue further, he may then refer you to a hospital for certain tests. These tests may involve seeing a specialist or even undergoing sleep studies, during which you will sleep overnight in a facility where your sleeping patterns and habits will be monitored. During the sleep study, the doctor will check to see if you are having difficulty breathing or if you are experiencing any other problems during the night.

After completing all of the necessary tests, your doctor may suggest a certain treatment program. If you are suffering from sleep apnea, following the treatment program is essential, as those who suffer from sleep apnea actually stop breathing at various times throughout the night and may suffer from some serious health conditions. If you are simply snoring due to poor air poor jaw placement, the Snore Guard anti-snoring device can help. By holding your jaw slightly forward, the Snore Guard opens up your airway so the soft tissue in the back of your throat does not vibrate. The Snore Guard has helped hundreds of thousands of people get a more restful night’s sleep, and it can do the same for you!
