How To Bounce Back From The Attack Of Free Radicals

Most people don’t realize it but there is a constant war going on within your body. Who is winning your own personal war of free radicals versus anti-oxidants?

Free radicals, simply put are a molecule with an electron missing. As your body processes the food you eat, they are created by the oxidation process and will accelerate your aging process, as well as interfere with your good health.

Antioxidants on the other hand are molecules that inhibit oxidation by giving an electron to the free radical molecule, keeping everything in balance. You can get anti oxidants in the vitamins, and minerals found in the food you eat as well as the skin care creams and lotions that you apply.

How do anti-oxidants neutralize free radicals?

Oxidation process is necessary for life, as it decomposes things, causing deterioration. The way that it stops its destruction is when an anti-oxidant gives an electron to the free radical, halting its process and neutralizing it.

Thirty or forty years ago it was an easier battle for your body to fight and win. Free radicals were not as much a problem as they are today for two main reasons:

Our food was a whole lot more nutritious and contained more anti-oxidants. Today, the ground is depleted due to mass farming, plus we tend to eat more processed food.
Back then, we were not exposed to as much pollution, radiation, toxins and chemicals, as we are today in our everyday environment.

We are facing a surge in the generation of free radicals at a rate that has never happened before to the human race, and at the same time a depletion of antioxidants in our food supply.

People, even experts, who claim that we are getting enough anti oxidants from our diet to control the excess free radicals are really just sticking their heads in the sand and avoiding reality.

L-Glutathione is the Major you want to call

In every battle, you have majors, captains, and soldiers. Each is playing an important but different role. The same is true with your own personal war going on within your body.

Common vitamins, such as A, C, and E, as well as selenium are captains, necessary but weak in power compared to the Major.

L-Glutathione is who you want to call. Your body can produce this vital element provided your internal systems are functioning properly and it is given the necessary precursors. But you may gain more benefit from supplementation, provided you are aware of two important factors:

It has to be taken in a special 'reduced' form. Keep in mind this reduced form is a smaller molecule size as a normal molecule size will not pass through the intestinal walls into the blood stream.
L-Glutathione must be protected as it passes through the stomach before being released in the upper intestine. This means that the supplement must be in a form of an enteric coated tablet with the nutrient being released in the upper intestine.

There are some other majors that you can call on, however, they are not quite as potent as L-Glutathione. Yet, they still are more potent than common vitamins. Look for Lutein, Bilberry, L-Carnosine, Grape Extract, and Green Tea Extract.

With all this information in mind, I suggest that if you want to win the battle, resulting in beauty and health, you get these nutrients into your daily diet. However, to get an edge up, check the ingredients in your skin care products. By adding them to your skin care routine you will be attacking from 2 different fronts, resulting in winning the battle of antioxidants versus free radicals.
