In order to support your troops you will need vast amounts of wheat. You may already have a 15-cropper village, but what if you need a second one? How about a third? How do you know what to build and what not to build in these villages so that you don't lose all your crop production to buildings, or worse still make your cropper villages chief targets for other players?
These are the buildings that you will need to build in a cropper, regardless of the level of fields that you build in it: granary, mill, bakery, main building, hero's mansion, warehouse, market & trade post.
In order to build the trade post you will need a level 10 stable and level 3 blacksmith. Once you have build these and have your trade-post built you can demolish them with your level 10 main building. This way you will save crop hourly/production for troops You will also want to have 1-4 warehouses depending on how high you want to bring your crop levels. Having 3 granaries is also a good goal so that you don't lose too much crop from overflow.
Here are some of the buildings you do NOT want to build: brickworks, iron foundry, sawmill, level 20 barracks, & armoury. As mentioned, you will have to build the blacksmith anyway, but take it down later.
These are the buildings that you need in a cropper where you do not build troops in. Building your troops in the same village that feeds them is a different option.
