Holiday gift giving is coming up. Are you panicking yet about what to get for the favorite women in your life? How about some beauty products they can pamper and indulge themselves with?
If that thought leaves you just as paralyzed as before, we can help you muddle through the thousands of lotion and potion choices.
First, stay away from dollar store and other cheap brands. They're cheap for a reason. Better to spend a few dollars one only one product that is high quality and very effective than to buy a few with nasty chemicals and sickeningly fake aromas.
Here are some things to consider before making your purchase. Does the woman in your life have a favorite brand? If so, stick to that, but perhaps purchase something she hasn't tried yet like a pampering foot cream or a new scent. Some women are willing to try other brands, but some are loyal to one brand for a reason, and it could be because that's the only brand that works for them, which brings us to the next point.
Is she allergic to lotions or does she have other skin issues like eczema? If so, look for items that will help soothe her skin, not make it worse. You want your gift to be used, not tossed away, right? You might think it odd she sticks to one brand, but it might be the one brand that doesn't further irritate a skin condition.
When it comes to scents, stick with more low-key scents unless you know exactly what she likes. Or buy something similar to what you know she likes. Otherwise, avoid overly flowery or strong-scented items.
Now, how to find out all this info? Well, that depends on how close you are. If you live in the same house, do some good-hearted snooping at what's on her dresser or in her bathroom.
If you don't have such opportunities, you can bring the subject up in conversation somehow and pay attention to her comments. Ask her if she's tried this new item in a magazine. Go shopping and browse by a beauty store in the mall. Ask her advice on buying beauty products for your mom or sister.
If you're really, really stuck on what to buy, don't forget about gift cards. If you know she has a favorite brand or store, pick up a nice gift card for that store and if possible, go with her when she picks something out so you know what she got and she associates that wonderful product with your thoughtfulness towards her as one of your favorite women.
