How To Cope With Frustrations As A Cna
1. If you are currently very unhappy with your nursing job, do not think to yourself that you are a failure at life or a failure as a nurse. Detach yourself emotionally from the frustrations of the position, and keep doing the job as professionally as you can. Decide to look at your job as a means to sustain yourself, and do not view it as something that defines your value as a human being. By creating a sense of detachment, you can prevent yourself from becoming deeply depressed by your current situation. 2. Find some real friends at work, even if it is just one other person. Even the most boring or stressful job can become more bearable if you like the people you work with. You may connect emotionally with many of your patients, and that is good, but you should also look for friends among your fellow nurses. Other nurses will understand exactly what you are going through. 3. Physically leave the workplace during breaks. If you have a break, whether it is for lunch or coffee, take the time to walk outside. If you mentally feel that your workplace is stressful, it is helpful to actually get out of the building and do something different, even if it is just for a very short period of time. Even a quick ten-minute stroll can help you to feel rejuvenated. 4. If you are unable to quit your job for financial reasons, take steps to look for other employment while you stay at your job. Network with other nurses and start actively looking for other opportunities. One important step is to get your financial life in order. Start saving more money and pay down debt. 5. Accept your current reality. Do not punish yourself further by stewing over the various injustices and and frustrations you are experiencing. This will simply increase your stress level and make it harder and harder for you to go to work and do your job. Do not suppress your emotions, but look for positive steps you can take to better your situation.
