How To Create Powerful Career Visions For Your Mba Application Essays
In order to do that, you need to pick out very basic aspects of your life or work background to create a fun and exciting career vision. By put together, I mean fusing two prominent aspects of your profile into a high impact career vision. All this equals a BIG DREAM GOAL. By doing this, you gain instant credibility and create room for wonderful stories to back up your cause. Remember, you need to persuade those admission officers that you have what it takes (out of the thousands of applicants applying) that you're going to make it big one day. Why else would they invest in you? If you're having problems trying to find those prominent aspects of your life that could create that dream goal, here a few to get you started: 1) Start with yourself -Your upbringing -Family background -Military -Personal health issues -A struggle of some sort 2) Your work experience -Type of industry you're in -What's your job function 3) Extracurriculars -During your undergraduate studies -Post undergraduate studies 4) Your ethnicity 5) Your sexual orientation 6) Your hobbies 7) Countries and cultures you've been exposed to I know this list may sound a bit daunting but this is all part of research and brainstorm phase. Take some time and go through this list and go through all of the prominent aspects of your profile. Start to pick the pieces that really stand out and could blossom your career vision. Even if it's something you're not sure about, choose something for now and if you change your mind later, that's okay too. Without a doubt, you need a career vision and it has to be compelling. Persuasive stories combine career-oriented and personal aspects of your background. Once you have found a career vision that's gold medal status, you may want to top it off by addressing a hot business or current event topics that you've recently seen in the news. If you don't follow the news, that's okay. I don't either as much as I should but if you want to learn quickly, pick up a copy of The Economist, Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, or Forbes. This, again, adds more credibility to your career vision. Business school admission officers, deans, professors and other staff usually follow business issues all the time. For example, the Dean of the Simon School of Business organizes lasagna dinner and invites international students to his house to talk about current event issues. They are eager to get their hands dirty, to get involved, and help solve some of these business issues. So while you're thinking about writing your essays, take a step back and think about your career vision and whether it's as grand as it could be. Make it powerful!
