How To Find A Balance Bike Online

The balance bike sensation is finally catching on in the US! And for many parents, this means the hunt for the perfect bike is ON.

My first word of advice is to look online and locate a company that sells a handful, not every balance bike available. Why? My experience with the larger balance bike sites is that they offer a huge range of bikes, but are not intimately familiar with each brand. It seems they sell every possible option, just to sell every possible option. However, not all balance bikes are created equal, and to be quite honest, some bikes are thrown together without much thought.

A safer bet would be to go with a company that stands behind four to six different balance bikes. Look for a site whose owners personally test all of the bikes and offer testimonials and reviews on all of the various brands. The best sites have children between the ages of one and six taking the bikes for test rides and reporting back on the pros and cons of their experiences. You would be amazed at how accurate children are when it comes to the level of comfort of each bike, and how honest they are about the quality of the design and how much enjoyment they get from the bike.

Make sure the site you choose offers both metal and wooden balance bikes, as there are pros and cons to both makes. Metal bikes can be lighter and more durable, while many wooden options are more environmentally friendly and sport authentic design traits. The site should detail the differences between the two different types of bikes to aid in your decision making process.

In addition, the best online balance bike companies will provide you with a sizing guide. This will specify the best age range match for each bike that they sell. The guide should also list seat and handlebar adjustments measured in inches. This way you are sure you are purchasing a bike that is neither too small or too large for your child.

Finally, customer service is key. Be sure that contact information is easy to find and that questions via email or phone are promptly answered. The people behind the site should be easily accessible, extremely knowledgeable about the product and efficient in their response time. The company return/exchange policy should be clearly stated. It is reasonable to expect to be able to get a refund on a faulty product within the first 30 days. The best companies will be sure to make the situation right no matter how much time has lapsed.
