If you're suffering from acne, you've probably been looking into buying acne creams. That's a great start, but I'll tell you one thing - you'll be at that pursuit forever. It's almost impossible to look for acne creams and actually determine just from the bottle which one is going to work the best for your skin.
Here's some criteria I use when I'm picking out acne creams. It's best to have these ideas in mind before you go hunting - online or in stores - for any kind of acne product or treatment.
1. How long has this treatment been around? If it's brand new, chances are not too many people have tried it, and its success rate could be questionable.
2. Will it be too harsh on my skin? Sometimes you don't know this until you try it, but as a general rule, if the product contains high amounts of alcohol or similar astringents, it's going to be harsh on your skin and dry it out too much.
3. Is it worth the cost? Sometimes the more expensive the product, the better it will work, but this isn't a guarantee. Do some online research, read the product reviews, and see if other customers think it's all it's cracked up to be.
4. Does it contain a well-known acne killing ingredient? Some of the best acne killers are benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and sulfur. If the acne cream contains one of these, then there is fair chance it will work for your skin.
5. Does the acne cream have a good reputation? If the cream you're looking at has been known to cause skin discoloration, defects, scarring, or other side effects, think twice about taking it. There's plenty of cream in the world to choose from; don't take the risk of damaging your skin forever.
One of the best acne creams and acne cleansers I recommend is the SkinMedica acne treatment system. You can find it very cheaply here at www.easyskintreatment.com/skinmedica, where it's at least $20 less than what I find people paying for it at the dermatology clinics. Plus, you don't even have to make an appointment to buy it, which cuts down on the cost drastically.
