How To Find The Right Property To Buy

Searching for property is an exhausting business, so there's always a temptation to rejoice when you find a property you actually like and go for it. But while this may be an understandable impulse it's also one you may live to repent at leisure: a recent survey revealed that a third of buyers felt they should have done a bit more leg work to find out about their new area.

How to Find a Property
There are a number of ways in which you could find a property to buy in the UK:

Find property online on the Internet
Using estate agents
Looking at the property pages in local newspapers
Contacting building companies for details of new properties being built in the area

The Property
You will need to consider what aspects of a property are most important to you:

Number of bedrooms / bathrooms
Parking provisions
Separate kitchen and dining room
Private garden
Conservatory
How much time/money you may want to spend redecorating etc.
Public transport access
How closely situated the property is to local shops, schools, etc.

The Area
If you are moving to a new area, you will need to see how this will affect your lifestyle such as commuting to work, taking the children to school, going to the gym, etc. Try and research areas online - look for useful information about house prices, school performance, public transport links and other amenities. The seller too, should be an excellent source of good information on the nearest schools, transport links etc.
