How To Get Ripped - Why You Shouldn't Use Anabolic Steroids
Over 100 different anabolic steroids have been developed since they were first introduced in the 1930s, each one requiring a prescription to be used legally in the U.S. primarily due to their harmful side effects. The term "anabolic steroids" is used to refer to synthetic substances related to androgens (i.e., male sex hormones). They were first developed and introduced in the 1930s as a treatment for hypogonadism, a condition in which the testes are not producing sufficient testosterone, thus hindering growth, development, and sexual functions. However, scientists also discovered that anabolic steroids also facilitate the growth of skeletal muscles. And so, bodybuilders and weightlifters (and later, athletes) began using them to help them improve their performance. Hence the name "performance enhancers" or "performance enhancing drugs". But as mentioned earlier, the use (and abuse) of anabolic steroids have also been known to cause a wide variety of health problems. For starters, anabolic steroids can cause bad breath, baldness, muscle cramps, aching joints, insomnia, hallucinations, and paranoia. It can also cause acne outbreaks and water retention. These are just some of the mild negative effects of steroid use (if you can even call them "mild"). Among the more serious and life-threatening effects of steroids use are increased risk of mood disturbances, psychosis, aggression, cardiovascular disease, liver disease, kidney disease, and even cancer of the liver and/or kidney. And that's not yet all of it. The problem with steroids is that there are as many (if not more) people who downplay/ignore their negative effects as there are people who preach about their dangers. What complicates matters more is that deaths that have been suspected of being caused by steroid use are being debated upon heavily as the "victims" are usually known to have been users of other drugs also. It is for this very reason that the debate wages on whether or not steroids indeed have life-threatening side effects. But let me ask you, would you trade a muscular body for a weak heart? Would you have a huge bicep for a damaged liver? Many people have claimed that a lot of the "supposed" negative side effects of steroids are myths. But, there are countless studies that have proven the side-effects of steroid use, studies which have been conducted by medical experts (no less). If you don't believe what the real experts say then who are you going to believe? Yes, building muscles will make you look good. But, it would be better if you take up muscle building for more than just vanity. Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com This article is written by Jonathan Castor.
