This strategy means taking the child to a boring area of the house, of totally ignoring the child until the child has calmed down. This can be particularly effective with a temper tantrum.

As children grow older they are capable of understanding the logic of rewards and consequences. Because of the child's developmental growth, they are able to understand consequences of unacceptable behavior and the rewarding of positive behavior. for instance, if your child refuses to eat their meal do not force them to do so. Instead remove the meal, and when they asked for a snack suggest that they eat their meal first and then they would be able to have a snack. At the same time remember to always give rewards for behavior that does meet your approval.
