How To Make Exercise A Habit

How many times have you decided to get rid of that belly fat only to realize that you can’t stick to the plan for long? First, it was the early morning jogging and then came the gym plans and then before you knew it, you were deciding on what next! You know what you need? You need to make exercising fun! Make it a fun activity, something that does not require effort and something that doesn’t make you cringe at the thought of it. That allows you to enjoy it and at the same time you remain fit!

How could exercising possibly be fun, you think? Here’s how:

Exercise Partner
If you think exercising is boring and that you would rather be munching away in front of a TV, then an exercise partner should help. Instead of sulking before exercising everyday, get yourself an exercise buddy! Both of you could work out together and you won’t even know how time passes. The best part is that on your ‘lazy’ days, you’ll have someone to drag you out of that couch!

Challenge yourself
Set a target every time you start to work out. If you jogged for half an hour one day, slowly increase it to an hour after a week or so. Keep challenging yourself from time to time to go that extra mile. When you challenge yourself, you are working towards something and there’s nothing better than succeeding every single time! So, yearn for that feeling and go ahead, challenge yourself!

Listen to music
If you find yourself exercising alone, plug in your iPod and get lost in the music. So, listen to lovely music and hum your way through all those exercises. Your mood’s great and your body is fit. What more!

Motivate yourself
If you get up one morning and don’t feel like exercising, motivate yourself that very second. Don’t be too easy on yourself. Picture yourself, all fit and healthy. If not that, keep reminders that you could look at on your ‘not-so-good’ days. Also, do small things like buying a dress you love which isn’t your size and lose weight to fit in it. Things like this will inspire you to work out.

Bring in variety
Don’t stick to the same old monotonous exercise routine. You’re bound to get bored that way! You can always bring in variety with exercises like swimming, aerobics, cycling, jogging, walking the treadmill and many others. Also, try out new stretches to keep your workouts enjoyable and read up to stay informed about different exercises.

Keep a track
Keep a track of the days you’re working out on and what you’re doing. Looking at it from time to time will help you keep a track of your workout regime which will not only make you feel good about your body but will also motivate you to stick to exercising and making it a hobby!

Once you make exercising a habit, it will eventually become a part of your daily routine. So much, that your day would seem incomplete without it! Can’t imagine that? All you need to do is make a start and before you know it, exercising will become an integral part of your life! Stay fit – physically and mentally!
