How To Make An Anniversary Extra Special

An anniversary is a special date in the calendar that marks a milestone in one’s relationship. Often enough, those who are not yet married may also celebrate their anniversary every year. Some couples even celebrate it every month. For those who have tied the knot, there are special milestones known as wooden for the 5th, tin for the 10th, 15th crystal, 20th china, 25th silver, 30th pearl, 40th ruby, 50th golden and for the luckiest couples alive - 60th diamond anniversary. In the UK, it used to be a tradition for a couple to receive a message from the monarch for their 60th, 65th and 70th anniversary. However, nowadays, with divorce being so common, these are extremely rare occurrences.

A lot of people have forgotten what marriage is really about. Due to the fact that it is so easy to get divorced, some do not even take it seriously. New couples can be all sweet and affectionate for a few months and file for a divorce after a few months. Nevertheless, for those who are lucky enough to find their soul mate, there just cause to celebrate wedding anniversaries. It is even customary in some countries for couples to renew their vows on their 50th or golden anniversary. For the love of your life, only the best presents will do. Whether it’s a practical gift or an extravagant one, the gift will have to be meaningful and unforgettable. Gifts for women or men can be an activity both of you can enjoy. Take a trip somewhere and spend “alone time” without the kids in tow. Another option would be to take dancing lessons together. It is socially useful, a way to spend time together and an opportunity to learn something new.

If one strictly celebrates anniversaries during the milestones mentioned above, you can choose to make it extra special. Make sure everything is perfect and romantic even if it is just for one day. The music, food and ambience should blend together. Splurge a bit! Get that expensive bottle of champagne to celebrate your anniversary. There may be couples who would rather be practical than extravagant. Know that even inexpensive things can make the romantic and memorable. Dance to the song you danced to on your wedding day. That will surely bring back the memories. A much simpler option is to just spend time together on that special day. Look at the stars or go to places that will remind both of you of your past dates and other interesting places.
