How To Mitigate Social Engineering Media Attacks

Social engineering media attacks are a common phenomenon. From the way that people work, a lot of social attacks could occur, some being intentional while others not being intentional. Since human beings are managed according to where they live and do in the society, it is advisable to ensure that every possible opportunity should be taken to reduce the occurrence of any attacks.

You work in an air school and by virtue of you dealing with many trainee pilots, the management of the school offers you a work uniform, a heavy khaki which looks like the one being worn by engineers at work,. The intention of the management is to reduce any chances of injury that might occur on your party while working. Then comes lunch hour and you meet in the cafeteria where many people meet you. You will not be surprised to see that a huge number will salute you by the name engineer. What will you do? How will you react? At this time, it would be pretty important that you keep cool and know how you will handle the comments since next time, you may be unlucky to have your photo with the words “engineer “next to it in a social media platform.

To avoid attacks from coming your way, avoid arguments. You will definitely do well if you decide to keep cool and let them perceive you the way they will. Playing ignorant will go a long way in ensuring that you achieve your goal. It’s advisable that you try as much as possible to play ignorant to the motives that exist hence through this; you will definitely win in the long run.

However, until when should you let the ignorance continue? Would it not be helpful to stamp out your authority and make right the wrong perception immediately? By doing this, you will leave no doubt as to what people think of you since they will have understood why you think and act in a particular manner. Through this, they will appreciate you a lot.

People tend to trust certain people that fit into certain descriptions. Many people can go to a certain extent to do something which could not have been done if they are dealing with people who fit into that description. This kind of stereotype has been there since long time hence it could be good if it’s mitigated.

Social engineering media attacks have become a normal occurrence and there is dire need for having it controlled. The major cause of this is wrong perception that emanates from people viewing you in a certain way. You can help reduce these attacks by not acting ignorant but having the concerned parties understand whatever you believe is the reality. Whenever it occurs, avoid justifications but have the concerned people understand that you are not what they perceicve.Retain the trust that they had on you initially since when they come to realize the truth later, you will be in bad shape. By doing this, you will have done just the right thing to avoid it from occurring again.
